How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Throughout this project I have used a range of different media technologies.
Research
- I have used blogger throughout this project to record what I have done. Blogger is a useful tool for a couple of reasons. Firstly it is completely online so is accessible from anywhere as long as you're connected to the internet. Another reason is that many other media technologies are compatible with blogger. For example, you can import pictures and show Youtube videos.
- When Researching I used PiktoChart to present my findings. PiktoChart is an illustrative reel which shows its contents on a creative downward page.
- I have used Youtube to help me research. Youtube allowed me to view already released short films. This helped me to determine the codes and conventions of short films. Youtube was also used when I was researching film radio trailers.
- Photoshop to research and plan radio trailers
- I used my mobile phone to communicate and organise when and where filming would take place.
- Trello: used to create a to do, doing and done list which is useful when planning.
- Google maps: used to provide an image of a map for my call sheets
- Visme
- Camera (Cannon 600D)
- Mobile phone to film (films in 4k)
- iMovie
- Youtube to upload film
- New Hive
During the construction process I used several cameras, especially in the bar scene. In the bar scene I used 3 different cameras to get a range of angles. One of the cameras I used was the SONY Cyber-shot DSC-QX10. This is essentially a camera lens which you use with your smartphone. The DSC-QX10 works seamlessly with your smartphone, allowing you to shoot images, edit them on your phone and then share them online. This camera records film in HD quality. Simply by downloading PlayMemories Mobile on your smartphone you can make an instant wireless connection between phone and camera. From here you can either choose to mount the lens to your phone or use it separately. This was useful for the bar scene as I needed to place the camera in some awkward positions to achieve the angles I wanted. For example, the arial view shot of the lemon being put in the two glasses was filmed on this camera.
Another camera I used was my Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone. The camera on this phone allows you to capture images in any light, shoot steady videos on the move and take crisp shots underwater. This camera films videos in 4K, the best quality of all cameras I used, and it to allowed me to film from difficult angles and to achieve great high quality close ups such as when the lemon is being cut.
I also made a company ident using another new technology, iStop motion. My production company is called Hands On Productions so I used a pair of articulating hands. Using a Hue camera I took a picture every time I moved the hands slightly. iStop motion then compiles all these individual photos together into a movie resulting in what looks like a moving image rather then individual pictures. I then imported this to iMovie to add a title over the top.

To edit I used iMovie which is a new technology. When editing the bar scene I had to alter the colour of certain shots so there was consistency. For this scene I had filmed in 2 locations so the colours didn't match. The selection of clips I filmed in a club had blue lighting. Therefore, I had to adjust the saturation, colour temperature, contrast and brightness of the clips I filmed at home.
